Oxen is a federally registered not-for-profit organization whose mission is: "to promote and support the values of community and teamwork in the polar regions”. Our aim is to recognise those who work with and support us, and to promote community initiatives and charities.
THE POLAR COMMUNITY
Expeditions to the Polar Regions are extraordinarily complex. Each expedition voyage or land based trip depends on the team work and camaraderie of many different groups of people. At Oxen we endeavour to promote each contributor to the expedition narrative and ensure their voices are heard and considered throughout the expedition development and execution process. Most importantly we seek to recognize and support those to help facilitate life changing experiences in some of the most pristine environments on the planet through authentic engagement initiatives.
EXPERIENTIAL VS TRANSACTIONAL
To really travel is to experience new places for what they are. To truly learn from those who live in these areas and develop meaningful connections along the way. As our world grows smaller the need for authenticity increases.
RECOGNIZING AND CELEBRATING ALL STAKEHOLDERS
Each expedition is unique. It is important to acknowledge each stakeholder throughout an expedition and to support them in the same way they support those lucky enough to visit these areas.
VALUING THE HUMAN ASPECT OF EXPLORATION
Exploration is part of human nature. Every explorer is driven by a curiosity for the unknown. Part of each adventure is the connections we make along the way with others. Through these experiences we learn and grow together.
